Fall is here, and people are increasing their activity levels. Your feet play a significant role in your overall health. Keeping your feet healthy and happy starts with some simple tips.

The health of our feet is something we often take for granted until something goes wrong. In many cases, foot conditions require extensive treatment by the time they are detected. Rather than treating foot problems after they develop, it is important to prevent them through preventive care in the first place. Some general foot care tips are as follows:

  • REGULARLY WASH YOUR FEET – wash your feet with warm soapy water every day. As long soaks can strip your skin of natural oils, you may not want to do so.
  • FEET NEED TO BE DRY – After washing them, dry them carefully. Don’t forget to get between the toes. Fungal infections such as athlete’s foot can occur due to dampness, which is the ideal environment for bacteria to grow.
  • MOISTURIZE – For dry skin, moisturizing cream should be applied all over the foot, but avoid the area between your toes.
  • CUT YOUR TOENAILS – Cut your toenails regularly with appropriate nail clippers. Don’t cut corners or at angles; always cut straight across. A painful and infected ingrown toenail can result from this.
  • SOCKS NEED TO BE CHANGED DAILY – this prevents foot odor. An odorous foot can be caused by sweaty feet. Cotton or wool socks are best. You can breathe easily and regulate your feet’s temperature with these socks.
  • AVOID FLIP-FLOPS – they do not support your feet. If you wear them for too long, you may develop arch and heel pain.
